One of our newest arrivals this week comes from "Onitsuka Tiger": the forerunner sneaker brand of ASICS that is widely known as one of one of Japan's oldest sneaker companies. Kihachiro Onitsuka created the precursor to all ASICS shoes in 1949 when he made the first "Onitsuka Tiger" sneakers in his living room.

His initial mission for the brand became to promote youth health through sports. Since then the classic Onitsuka Tiger 'stripes' that appear on all ASICS sneakers have become a signifier of premium performance in sport. ASICS is now a lifestyle brand based on a fusion of Japanese sports excellence and modern flair.
